JOANN Stores in SE Michigan Create Miracles for Kids at Beaumont Children’s

Stores in District 30 and 31 raised over $57,000 for Beaumont Children’s in August and September

For the second year in a row, JOANN fabric and craft stores in Southeast Michigan raised more for their local children’s hospital, Beaumont Children’s, than any other participating market in the country. By asking customers to donate at the register, JOANN team members more than doubled their fundraising between 2022 and 2023.

The top three fundraising stores were also in the top ten in the country:

  1. Novi – $6,082
  2. Ypsilanti – $5,919
  3. Auburn Hill – $5,389

The $57,000 raised by JOANN will help Children’s Miracle Network at Beaumont Children’s fund exceptional programs and services, vital pediatric equipment and scholarships for families struggling to afford care. This includes Beaumont Children’s art therapy program, which is a cause JOANN also supports with in-kind donations of supplies from their stores.

Art therapy provides an additional layer of support for patients during their hospital stay by building their physical and emotional strength. Beaumont Children’s is grateful to have a on-staff art therapist who offers group and individual sessions designed to encourage creative expression during their hospital stay.

Benefits of art therapy include:

-non-pharmacologic pain management
-decreased stress and anxiety
-stimulated cognitive development
-improved coping skills
-strengthened fine motor skills
-providing a sense of choice and control
-improved focus and attention span
-promoting health and healing
-promoting self-discovery
