Everett’s Journey

At 24 weeks pregnant and with rising blood pressure, Marianne and Alex LaBrash welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Everett, seven weeks later at 31 weeks and 3 days gestation. Being a preemie has a plethora of challenges, especially lung development.  Everett began his life on C-pap to regulate his oxygen and help with breathing.  Later, Everett developed pneumothorax.  This diagnosis led to Everett being placed on a ventilator to assist with his breathing.  With a long respiratory journey ahead of him, Everett was able to come home.  The team at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital helped make this happen.

The Child Life Services Team provided care and compassion to Everett and his parents throughout their stay.  Panda Warmers, Giraffe Omni Beds, and fold-out furniture for long stays were just some of the benefits that they received with the help of donations made to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “The Troy Beaumont NICU is family to us” – Marianne LaBrash.
